How to play

1. Fill in the blacked-out words. Each bar shows how many letters its word has.
2. Every word fits its numbered clue, and all of them share one hidden link.
3. You get six attempts. Guesses must be real words. Words you get right stay filled in.

• swanThe right word.
• crowFits the clue, but it's not the word.
• rockDoesn't fit the clue.
• gullThe chain badge means the word has the hidden link.

In this example, GULL and WALL both have the badge. Both contain a double letter, so the weather word needs one too: SLEET.

The link is always about spelling, never meaning. A hint tells you what it is, for one attempt. A new daily case opens at midnight UTC. The archive holds previous daily cases; case files are extra practice.
